We meet in the church lobby on the first Saturday of the month at 5:00-8:00 p.m. Enjoy free pizza and refreshments, view a feature film, and discuss the spiritual and faith issues that are raised by discussion questions and reference Bible verses. January 14, 2012 - Gandhi, 1st half (1982) PG 92 minutes. Director Richard Atten-borough's awe-inspiring biopic about Mahatma Gandhi (Ben Kingsley) -- the diminutive lawyer who stood up against British rule in India and became an international symbol of nonviolence and understanding -- brilliantly underscores the difference one person can make. The first half of the film depicts Gandhi's civil rights campaigns in South Africa and India up to the British massacre of Indian civilians at Jallianwala Bagh in 1919. Mahatma Gandhi (Ben Kingsley) -- the diminutive lawyer who stood up against British rule in India and became an international symbol of nonviolence and understanding -- led a campaign of non-violent non-cooperation against British colonialists that led to Indian and Pakastani independence. Epic and unforgettable, the film swept the 1983 Oscars, winning eight awards, including Best Picture, Best Actor (Kingsley), Best Screenplay and Best Director (Richard Attenborough). Doubt

Marc Forster (Finding Neverland, Monster's Ball) directs this touchingly honest story of family, friendship and bravery, based on the best-selling debut novel by Khaled Hosseini. Stranger Than Fiction
