Gathering in fellowship to explore stories of faith through film
January 14, 2012 - Gandhi, 1st half (1982) PG 92 min. February 4, 2012 - Gandhi, 2nd half (1982) PG 97 min. Ben Kingsley plays the diminutive lawyer who stood up against British rule in India with nonviolent protest. The first half of the film depicts Gandhi's civil rights campaigns in South Africa and India up to the British massacre of Indian civilians at Jallianwala Bagh in 1919. The second half depicts Gandhi's imprisonment by the British, his several hunger strikes, and his assassination by Hindu extremists. Matthew 5: 38-48; John 8: 32-37
